Nagina Mangal
Events Committee Co-Chair
Nagina Mangal is a postdoctoral associate at MIT’s McGovern Institute for Brain Research, where she investigates neural circuits underlying brain-body communication, with a focus on neuroimmune interactions and cortical–striato–nigral circuits.
She earned her Ph.D. from Imperial College London, where she studied pancreatic cancer biology and the effects of cannabinoid therapeutics, sparking her interest in how signaling pathways connect the nervous and immune systems. This interdisciplinary foundation led her to transition into neuroscience, where she now explores how neural circuits influence physiological and immune responses.
As Events Co-Chair for MASS AWIS, Nagina is passionate about fostering an inclusive community for women in STEM through networking, professional development, and mentorship opportunities.
Outside the lab, she enjoys traveling, exploring new states, and learning about cephalopods and their remarkable biology and behavior.
