About the event

From the detailed work of research to the practice of communicating results to diverse audiences, creativity is an essential part of science.

This webinar explores the creative dimensions that lie at the heart of science communication and examines how explicitly integrating creativity can help scientists—especially women in STEM—share their stories, research, and perspectives more effectively.

In the first part of the webinar, Dr. Anatolli Kozlov (bio below) will provide a conceptual overview of how creativity can be understood in the context of science communication. Drawing on parallels between science and art, we will unpack several key dimensions of creativity relevant to this field. The second part will involve hands-on exercises and tools to help participants ideate and design their own creative science communication projects. The webinar will conclude with a facilitated group discussion, during which participants will share insights and articulate practical takeaways.

Dr. Anatolii KOZLOV is a researcher, educator, and theatremaker working at the intersection of science, philosophy, and art. Working with research communities, he focuses on three key themes: communication skills, research culture, and the importance of emotions and imagination for science and scholarship. For each of these themes, he combines theoretical insights with exercises from theatre and creative writing practice. He also helps researchers devise and run in-person outreach events, including performances, creative presentations, and exhibitions.

Anatolii holds a PhD in biology from the University of Geneva and an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Kent. In the past year, Anatolii co-ran a project called TheCultureLab, which enlisted creative, embodied exercises as a means to craft open group dialogues on research culture and life in research amongst postdocs.

Event Fee: $10 for AWIS members & $15 for non-AWIS members.

Registration Deadline: Monday, 15th December 2025, 4 PM ET.
