Let your curiosity wander!
Innovation and Creativity rule the day
Do you enjoy hands-on science and engaging with the community?
The Association for Women in Science (Mass AWIS) is seeking volunteers for NextGen STEMFest on May 30, 2026, in Waltham, MA. Hosted for free at the historic Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation in Waltham, this event features over 50 exhibitors and Massachusetts’s only youth-led maker space (Charles River Collaboratory) to ignite your creativity.
We will lead an interactive activity introducing biomaterials, in which visitors create gel-like beads and observe how liquids transform into soft solids in seconds. This hands-on demonstration highlights how scientists design materials that mimic human tissues, connecting chemistry, biology, and engineering to real-world medical innovations.

Why volunteer?
Build your science communication skills
Participate in meaningful community outreach
Inspire the next generation of scientists
Whether you’re a student, postdoc, or professional, we welcome all who are excited about STEM engagement.
