Join Me For Coffee with Alison Burke

Join Me for Coffee is a long-running series at MASS AWIS that provides a great opportunity for women in science who are seeking career development or simply inspiration. Participants will not only learn about that person’s career but also establish a new professional connection. These events are a great opportunity for participants to practice networking in an intimate setting, a skill that helps open doors to meaningful careers in STEM.

The upcoming ‘Join Me for Coffee’ event will be virtual and will feature Alison Burke (bio below). If you would like to participate in this ‘Join Me for Coffee’ event, first complete the event application form through the registration link. A committee will then review all applications and select 4-6 participants for each event. Selected applicants will be notified by email at least one week prior to the event.

Guest Bio

Alison E. Burke is an award-winning Manager of Medical Illustration and Multimedia at The New England Journal of Medicine, Massachusetts. She is also a Medical Illustrator and Partner for Amino Creative, LLC.

Her published illustrations and animations have appeared in numerous journals, textbooks, brochures, and on websites. Prior to joining NEJM, Alison served as Senior Medical Illustrator at the Journal of the American Medical Association in Chicago, Illinois.

Alison is a professional member and Fellow of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI). She received the AMI’s Outstanding Achievement Award in 2014. In addition, she is a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators.

Alison holds a Master of Arts in Medical and Biological Illustration degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Entomology degree from Cornell University, and an Associate of Arts in Illustration degree from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Event Fee (upon acceptance): $5 for AWIS members & $15 for non-AWIS members (Paid on Eventbrite after selection).
