MASS AWIS is offering its members an exclusive opportunity to make professional connections across a variety of career paths. ‘Join Me for Coffee’ gives a chance to meet with a STEM professional for 1 hour at a coffee shop or café. Participants will not only learn about that person’s career but also establish a new professional connection. These events are a great opportunity for participants to practice networking in an intimate setting, a skill that helps open doors to meaningful careers in STEM. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
The upcoming ‘Join Me for Coffee’ event series will feature Joanne Kamens (bio below). If you would like to participate in this ‘Join Me for Coffee’ event, first complete the event application form. A committee will then review all applications and select 4-6 participants for each event. Selected applicants will be notified by email at least one week prior to the event. Upon selection notification, you will be required to formally register for the event and pay the registration fee via our secure website. Selected applicants who fail to complete registration on time forfeit the opportunity to participate.

Executive Director, Addgene
Dr. Kamens is the Executive Director of Addgene and a founder of MASS AWIS. She received her PhD in Genetics from Harvard Medical School then spent 20 years as a researcher and director in pharma and biotech. She is active in creating and supporting a number of mentoring programs for science trainees. Dr. Kamens was named one of PharmaVoice's 100 Most Inspiring Commanders & Chiefs. Joanne gives over 80 talks each year on career topics all over the world. She speaks widely to science and tech trainees, women in science groups and to pharma teams on topics such as Winning Company Culture, Implicit Bias, Management 101, Making the most of Mentoring Relationships, Work/Life Negotiation, Not Networking - Building Relationships for Success.
