MASS AWIS is offering its members an exclusive opportunity to make professional connections across a variety of career paths. ‘Join Me for Coffee’ gives a chance to meet with a STEM professional for 1 hour at a coffee shop or café. Participants will not only learn about that person’s career but also establish a new professional connection. These events are a great opportunity for participants to practice networking in an intimate setting, a skill that helps open doors to meaningful careers in STEM. Snacks and beverages will be provided.


The upcoming ‘Join Me for Coffee’ event series will feature CEO, Dr. Kathryn Crawford (bio below). If you would like to participate in this ‘Join Me for Coffee’ event, first complete the event application form. A committee will then review all applications and select 4-6 participants for each event. Selected applicants will be notified by email at least one week prior to the event. Upon selection notification, you will be required to formally register for the event and pay the registration fee via our secure website. Selected applicants who fail to complete registration on time forfeit the opportunity to participate.

Guest Bio

Kathryn Crawford, PhD                 	         CEO, PharmOcu LLC
Kathryn Crawford, PhD CEO, PharmOcu LLC

Dr. Crawford has over 25 years of experience in early stage biotech and pharmaceutical development, particularly in eye diseases, and has held senior positions in both academia and industry. She has managed numerous pre-clinical development programs, with expertise in animal studies and disease models, with specific interest in ophthalmology. As principal investigator, she has been awarded multiple NIH Small Business Innovation Research grants, and has been selected several times to serve on NIH SBIR review committees as an expert panelist reviewer. Dr. Crawford has authored over 30 publications in high impact peer-reviewed journals, and has been invited to present her research at national and international conferences. In 2005, she founded her independent consulting business, PharmOcu, supporting and guiding small pharmaceutical, device, and drug delivery companies with all aspects of early stage development (regulatory, CMC, toxicology, and clinical). Dr. Crawford holds a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology and a PhD in Pharmacology, both from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
