About the event
MASS AWIS is offering an opportunity to make professional connections across a variety of career paths. ‘Join Me for Coffee’ gives a chance to meet with a STEM professional for 1 hour online. Participants will not only learn about that person’s career but also establish a new professional connection. These events are a great opportunity for participants to practice networking in an intimate setting, a skill that helps open doors to meaningful careers in STEM. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
The upcoming ‘Join Me for Coffee’ event series will feature Alicia Jackson (bio below). If you would like to participate in this ‘Join Me for Coffee’ event, first complete the event application form. A committee will then review all applications and select 4-6 participants for each event. Selected applicants will be notified by email at least one week prior to the event. Upon selection notification, you will be required to formally register for the event and pay the registration fee via our secure website. Selected applicants who fail to complete registration on time forfeit the opportunity to participate.
Guest Bio

Dr. Alicia Jackson is currently CEO and founder of Evernow - a DTC telemedicine company focused on women 40+, starting with menopause. Dr. Jackson has a long track record of bringing to life technological advances to solve pressing challenges. Prior to her career as an entrepreneur, Dr. Jackson launched and served as the Deputy Director of the Biological Technologies Office at DARPA. At DARPA, she managed an annual investment portfolio of over $340 million - including managing DARPA’s response and vaccine programs during the ebola crisis in 2014. In addition, Dr. Jackson created and managed DARPA’s synthetic biology portfolio and its programs in transient electronics. Dr. Jackson also founded and served as CTO at Drawbridge Health, a GE backed medtech company enabling convenient and painless blood draws. Earlier in her career, Dr. Jackson served as Professional Staff for energy technology policy for the Chairman of the US Senate Energy Committee, Energy Scholar at Georgetown University, and as a Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellow at the National Academies of Science. She received her PhD and BS in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT, focusing on nanotechnology for advanced materials. In addition to advising several early stage start-ups, Dr. Jackson sits on the Editorial Advisory Board at TEDMED.
