About the event

A critical part of transitioning careers is letting others know that you are capable of doing it successfully. Effectively communicating your career story is an often forgotten step in career exploration and the job search. This workshop will provide tips and tricks on crafting a career story, effective communication, and developing lasting professional relationships.


Speaker Bio

James (Jim) Gould is the director of the HMS/HSDM Office for Postdoctoral Fellows at Harvard Medical School (HMS) where he builds programs and policies for research, career, and professional development. Jim has published or contributed to articles in Nature Immunology covering CV to resume conversion, interviewing strategies, and manuscript writing. He is also a guest expert on Naturejobs Blog and Naturejobs Career Community. Prior to HMS, Jim was at the National Cancer Institute of the NIH where he did two postdoc fellowships and developed an internship with the NCI’s Office of Training and Education. He chaired the NCI’s Postdoc Association and is a member of the National Postdoctoral Association, Graduate Career Consortium, and AAAS. Jim received his BS at Clarion University of Pennsylvania in  Biotechnology/Molecular Biology and his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Louisville.
