Diana Valverde
Mentoring Committee Co-Chair
Diana received her doctorate from the Cell Biology Department at Yale University, where she trained with Prof. Karin Reinisch, investigating the molecular basis of lipid homeostasis and the role of lipid transfer proteins in autophagosome biogenesis. She joined the del Mármol Lab in 2023 and is now deeply engaged in unraveling the molecular mechanisms underlying insect biology. Diana is currently an HHMI Fellow of the Helen Hay Whitney Foundation.
Beyond the lab, Diana is passionate about mentoring and is committed to empowering others through outreach efforts both within and beyond the scientific community. She is excited to serve on the AWIS Mentoring Committee. In her free time, she enjoys gardening and strength training.
