Managing “Up”: How to Influence Bosses

This virtual workshop will provide you with practical approaches for positively influencing those above you in the organization using methods that are not only effective, but will actually be liked and appreciated. Enhance your ability to manage “up” while networking with other fellow professionals. Acquire valuable insights with discussions on how to deal with difficult workplace situations. Find out how to gain more support and access to resources which ultimately will have a greater impact on important decisions you make!
This 1-hour interactive session will be led by Dr. Acton who is an expert on strategic leadership at the intersection of science and business. She is the CEO of Vivo Group (www.VivoGroup.com), a firm that improves the influential leadership skills of technical experts so they can be more productive and innovative in industry. She has worked with a variety of life science organizations including: Broad Institute, Harvard University, Novartis, Pfizer, Genentech, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Sanofi, Shire, MassBio, and others.
P.S. This event will require attendees to have their cameras on the entire session for a better virtual networking experience.
Dr. Acton has a doctorate in biology from M.I.T., and served as a faculty member at Harvard University in the department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Dr. Acton also served as Director of Scientific Development at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, where she ran the operations of the Functional Genomics Program, a $40 million, 50-person academic-industry collaborative research program. She is the author of the book “The Bluffer’s Guide to Genetics,” a humorous guide to DNA published by Oval Books, as well as the eBook “Integrating Technical Expertise & Business”.
